Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS)

"The Canadian Resident Matching Service is a not-for-profit organization that works in close cooperation with the medical education community, medical schools and students to provide an electronic application service and a computer match for entry into postgraduate medical training throughout Canada." (CaRMS website)

There are currently two ways to become an emergency physician: (1) The 2-year family medicine residency through the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) with +1 year in emergency medicine OR (2) The 5-year Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) emergency medicine specialty.

CAEP Mentorship Program

New this year, the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) Resident Executive has initiated a Mentorship Program.  The goal of the program is to pair medical students with EM residents.  The Mentor will provide the students with a resource for questions and guidance as they pursue their interest in Emergency Medicine.

Pathway Evaluation Program

A 5-minute survey that ranks medical specialties that would be best-suited to you.  Sure, it might take more than 5 minutes to choose your career path, but this website may at least get the wheels turning.
